original was by Frankie Vallie from the four seasons, but my favorite version is by british mod-psych-soul band Timebox with Mike Patto
it's an amazing slice of blue eyed soul!
french singer claude françois also covered it under the name "reste" but it's rather forgetable
Barrabas - cheer up
from their first LP Wild Safari released in 1972
great latin/soul/funk/pop spanish band
It was created by los Brincos drummer Fernando Arbex
woman (from the same lp) was an early classic at the David Mancuso's Loft Paries
requiem pour un twister favs # 08
Martin Circus was a very famous band in France during the 70s overall for their mid70s novelty hits
but they were in the early 70s one of the best band of France a bit "prog" but, in their own way
their first singles are all good, this one is the first ever released by Martin Circus in 1969 and it's my favorite
(les) Variations - générations
1970
B side of their 3d french single
they also released a dannish only SP
they usualy sang in english but this one is in french!
a very nice one for lovers of led zep and hard rock stuff
requiem pour un twister favs # 07
(merci à brut de groove pour le rip)
les 5 Gentlemen - mets du sucre dans ton café
another killer tune by les 5 Gentlemen
silly but great lyrics!
i think it's from 1968 (maybe 1967)
les 5 Gentlemen are one of the best beat band from France
check also tracks like "je te veux" or the amazing "si tu reviens chez moi"
(anorther requiem pour un twister favs)
somewhere between "sultana" by titanic and "wild safari" by barrabas
cool percussions and rythm with a funky bass and cheesy animal samples
Resonance was a studio project wich includes people like Pierre Bachelet!
Tritons - Drifter
(Rhodes - Khino)
1973
B-side of a strange Rolling Stones cover
easy to find 7 inches in France, Italy
a fine psych tune with hammond and wild effects.
Requiem pour un Twister favs # 04
[rip and scans from my own copy but you also can find this track on psych-circle comp "blow your cool"]
Here is a cool french beat tune by les Sunlights from 1967
rip & scan from my own copy (unfortunately a jukebox one!)
not so hard to find in vinyl
